Twitch Users at Risk Following Massive Hack

Posted on the 24 March 2015 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

Amazon-owned game streaming platform, Twitch has reportedly been hacked. The company has issued a statement via its official blog admitting that there have been “unauthorized access to some Twitch user account information” and user data may have been stolen as well.

As a precaution, Twitch has issued a password reset for all users and recommends that users change their password in any other account that shares the same password.

“For your protection, we have expired passwords and stream keys and have disconnected accounts from Twitter and YouTube. As a result, you will be prompted to create a new password the next time you attempt to log into your Twitch account.”

To further improve its security, Twitch has pushed restrictive password requirements that forces users to use a strong password with 8 character minimum mixed with special characters and numbers.

Twitch, which now serves over 100 million viewers a month, is the biggest video game streaming site on the web. Amazon recently acquired the company for $970 million. This has been the second and the biggest attack on the site since Amazon acquisition, following the Christmas day hack last year.
