Twin Shadow already makes pretty epic 80s pop, and with his new track, “To the Top”, he’s taken it to a whole new level: the power ballad level. It’s been too long — too long I say! — since I’ve been able to adequately groove to something that sounded this much like it was meant for driving in a DeLorean after a triumphant yet bittersweet encounter. Seriously, this track is straight out of an awesome 80s movie, so someone please get me my Members Only jacket! Thankfully, because Twin Shadow is an incredible musician, it’s not just a kitschy throwback but also a pretty spectacular pop song. The driving beat alone all but guarantees it will be on basically every summer playlist in the same way that literally every track from 2012′s Confess was. We’ve been looking forward to his follow-up LP for quite some time, and based on “To the Top”, we won’t be disappointed when it drops.
