Tumblr’s Latest Update Encourages Users to Write Long Essays

Posted on the 30 January 2015 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

Tumblr has rolled out a new update, fixing one of the major issues the platform had that forced a lot of people to use WordPress and Blogger over Tumblr – Essay writing. The micro-blogging platform appears to be breaking away from its niche, and it’s actually a good thing.

The latest update adds some pretty nifty features to the platform, including the ability to add photos and videos anywhere in a post by simply clicking on the ⊕ button that pops up at every new line of text. It also brings dynamite-looking text and an easy-to-use text-styling options that simply appears as you highlight text. Works just like in Medium.

As a fan of long-form writing, I always preferred WordPress over Tumblr. Having less post customization and styling options were the main reasons why I’ve been avoiding Tumblr for a long time. But, thanks to this new update, that may no longer be a problem. If you’re like me, and loves long-form essay writing, you can now use Tumblr as free space for your personal blogs.
