True Blood Season 7: “Everyone is Fair Game,” Says Anna Paquin

The first season or two people who were big characters were dying and then there was this sort of lull in the middle where if they were a big character they were probably pretty safe. And I feel, story telling wise, that gets a little safe and our show is not that and so, this year, they literally went; ‘Everyone is fair game.’ And that is, you know, a very specific choice and it keeps everyone, you know, on their toes.

Interviewer, Alyona Minkovski, was quick to jump in and point out the deaths that have occurred so far in Season 7 feel very unceremonious – especially compared to previous seasons of True Blood. Anna confirmed this but also expanded on the idea by explaining that these low key deaths are actually the point. Death is so common on True Blood – and notably more so in Season 7 – that the people of Bon Temps are becoming numb to the constant string of loss.

So when is too much death enough?
