13293_1319713361Since the True Blood Comic Book series launched in 2010, it has become a very popular and important piece of the True Blood franchaise. So far three series have been successfully developed and released with a fourth ongoing series set to be released this May. Unlike the previous series, the new ongoing series will have a new issue for fans to read every month.  It will also have an even stronger connection to the show given that series creator Alan Ball and cast member and comic book extraordinaire Michael McMillian (Steve Newlin) are involved on this series. McMillian is excited to be working on the comics again after previously working on Tainted Love:

“I’m so happy to come back to work on the TRUE BLOOD comic,” says McMillian, co-writer of the Tainted Love limited series. “The show’s mythology has become vast and rich over the past few seasons, and our plan is to explore every corner of the vampire universe, past and present. Ann and I are eager to make it a must-read companion piece to the TV series.”

This series will certainly put it in the must read category since it will be dealing with the Great Revelation aka the day the vampires announced their existence to the world. Known as “Where Were You” the stories will deal with each character’s role and reaction on this day.

McMillian’s writing partner Ann Nocenti also shared her enthusiasm for the series saying:

“As a fan from the jump, I was thrilled to come onboard to contribute to the lovely nastiness that is TRUE BLOOD,” says Nocenti, a comics veteran best known for her ground-breaking run on Daredevil. “Working on the comic with Michael has been a revelation, he generates amazing stories and packs them with must-read tidbits and I’m lucky to be along on this ride.”

The first issue of the series is currently up for order in the HBO store and the third series, The French Quarter, will be available in hardcover this April.
