True Blood Finale: A Look Back On… Death

Posted on the 24 August 2014 by Truebloodnetcom @truebloodnet

Adele Stackhouse

It was all the way back in Season 1. Back when we thought our main characters would be safe from the horrors that abounded in Bon Temps. To see Adele Stackhouse (Lois Smith) get attacked and killed was horrific enough. But, then to watch Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) defiantly down the remains of Gran’s pecan pie was True Blood gold!

Maryann Forrester

Maryann was a maenad with a penchant for orgys and eating offal. We spent all of Season 2 hoping for Maryann to be offed so we could go back to looking our True Blood faves in the eye without imagining them naked. Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) came to the rescue, turning himself into a cow before stabbing Maryann to death.

Godric

Eric Northman’s (Alexander Skarsgard) maker, Godric (Allan Hyde) is still a truebie favorite. Being 2000 years old, Godric had become rather tired of his earthly existence and offered himself up as a vampire sacrifice to the Fellowship of the Sun. Sookie watched until the very end when Godric walked out and met the sun.

Rosalyn Harris

Rosalyn (Carolyn Hennesy) was an Authority figure we loved to hate. In Season 5 she got on our nerves just enough that when Sam turned into a fly and flew into her mouth before shapeshifting back into human form, we all cheered harder than we probably should have considering the level of gore!

Governor Truman Burrell

Gov. Burrell (Arliss Howard) is still creating waves into Season 7 with his changes to the laws involving vampires and their estates. However, he met his maker in Season 6 when Bill (Stephen Moyer) ripped his head off. Thinking that was the end of him, we were later horrified to find Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) kissing his cold head lips.

Terry Bellefleur

Along with the death of Gran, Terry’s (Todd Lowe) was probably the saddest. Terry struggled constantly with PTSD. In the end it became too much for him so he hired an old friend to act as a hitman and take him out. If only he’d spoken to Arlene (Carrie Preston) first as she was getting ready to have him glamoured into forgetting his horrific past.

Veronica

250px-Veronica
You may not recognize the name, but I am sure the image will jog your memory. Yes, Veronica (Marina Benedict) was an on call blood donor to vampires. She bit off more than she could chew however, when Billith decided to break her bones and drain her without even setting a finger on her.

Tara Thornton

Tara (Rutina Wesley) was Sookie’s bestie and managed to die twice on the show. Once when Debbie Pelt (Brit Morgan) accidentally shot her. but that’s okay, because Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) turned her into a vampire. Next up she died for good in the first episode of Season 7 when she lost a fight with a Hep-V infected vampire. However, that still wasn’t the last we saw of her thanks to her mother’s V-induced visions.

Alcide Herveaux

The death of Alcide (Joe Manganiello) was a shock, not only to Team Alcide fans, but to us all. He was hit in the forehead by a random bullet during a scene in which Sookie is trying to lure the Hep-V infected vampires to her. Unfortunately the crazed townfolk of Bon Temps also show up and it spells the end for Sookie’s werewolf boyfriend.

Russell Edgington

As far as villain favorites, Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare) probably takes the cake! He also manages to be involved with a couple of deaths that deserve and honorable mention. Firstly, that of his lover, Talbot (Theo Alexander), when he is staked from behind by Eric Northman. Russell then goes on to carry the remaining goo that is Talbot in a glass candy jar until Sookie dumps him down the garbage disposal. Then there is that scene we all know and love where Russell rips out the heart of a news presenter while he is on air and reading the news. As for Russell, his death was just as spectacular when he met his true death at the hands of Eric Northman.

The Bellefleur Fairies

Remember that awkward moment when Andy Bellefleur’s (Chris Bauer) fairy lover delivered quadruplets on the billiard table in Merlotte’s? It only took a few short days for those babies to grow up and when they did, they hit the town running. It’s a shame fairy blood is irresistible to vampires and young vamp, Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll) drained all but one of them in Season 6.

Ms. Suzuki

This is possibly my fave death ever on True Blood! Ms. Suzuki got into a fight with Sarah Newlin in Season 6 and met a gruesome end when Sarah used one of Ms. Suzuki’s own stiletto’s to kill her.

Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) offs Ms. Suzuki with her own shoe in HBO's True Blood Season 6
