The Review: This is, no doubt, the best season so far, and I was extremely happy to find out that HBO renewed True Blood for a fifth. I got so hooked into it that I am sad it's going to be over in a month.

I was excited to see that the battle between the witches and the vampires finally went beyond the spells. We got to see some real action out there, which will still continue into the next episode. I though it was a very bad decision from Bill to take Sookie and Eric along into the battle, and as it turned out, she got hurt and he fell under the necromancer's spell. That will not lead to anything good, and, with four episodes left, we now have Alcide involved more than even in Sookie's life.
As always, I loved all the Sookie/Eric scenes. I'm team Eric all the way and I'd really like to see Bill out of the pictures, like in the books. I loved how Eric never fed on Sookie until she offered, and his "We will be one" line gave me goosebumps. We finally got to see Sookie on a V ride, and it was amazing to see the connection between her and Eric, so strong that he actually went on that trip together with her. Even if they don't get those passionate scenes life she and Bill had, I like this so much better, they seem to be connected on a whole new level. I fear though that their happiness is far from being a given, with Alcide now saving Sookie when Eric and Bill couldn't, not to mention that Eric is now under Antonia's spell. Also, Sookie seems to still have feelings for Bill (grrr), even though she admitted to love Eric. So the drama is not over yet.
Moving to another love triangle that's been forming, Jason saved Jessica's life, as I'd predicted, which led her to break up with Hoyt and get herself thrown out from both Hoyt's and Jason's houses. I feel for Jess, Hoyt's reaction was far from mature and Jason's was not what one would expect. It's actually hard to take any sides in this - I like Hoyt (though not so much after the way he spoke to her in this episode) and I like Jason (even much more now that he put his friendship with Hoyt above his attraction for Jessica).
And since two triangles were not enough, we now have Luna's ex (and the alpha in Alcide's new pack) barging into her house while Sam was there.
All this romantic drama almost steals the show, but there are still some other things going around to keep the other characters busy. Lafayette begins to feel the effects of his medium awakening, not only by seeing more of the black woman hanging around Mickey (her name is Mavis and, as it turns out, she had a baby - who died - with a white married guy, and now somehow thinks Mickey is her baby), but also getting possessed by her spirit.
Tommy also got to walk into someone else's shows - again -, by shifting into Mrs. Fortenberry to get some money from the guy who offered to buy her natural gas rights. As Marshall Allman twitted yesterday, Tommy was a drag this episode. It was so much fun though to see Dale Raoul playing Tommy as Maxine.
Pam was again very close to killing Tara, had it not been for Bill, who saved her from a sure death. One more time, I'm really sorry she didn't. Tara is such a bore this season, she's just been getting worse since season 1, I just wish we'd be done with her already. She'll probably end up being on the vampires' side in the end, and that would be even worse than her blind allegiance to anyone who has a bone to pick with them.
But I try not to dwell on her (or any other annoying stories like Sam's or Debbie's), as long as I have Eric and Sookie together, Skarsgård nakedness (yeah, I know, I'm awful, but how cute was his butt, right?) and good development on the vampires versus witches story, I'm happy.
