True Blood 4x03: If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin?

Original Air Date: 10 July 2011

Storyline: After his encounter with Marnie and the coven, Eric seems to have lost his memory. He knows he's a vampire but does not recall who he is. Sookie takes him home and contacts Pam for help. Lafayette thinks they should beg Eric for forgiveness but Tara and Jesus disagree. Jason is still being held prisoner by Crystal and her backwoods clan and learns exactly what they have in store for him. Sam Merlotte takes his brother Tommy to task for wanting to cheat Mrs. Fortenberry out of a possible fortune. Jessica seeks Bill's advice after feeding on a pick-up at Fangtasia. Sookie gets a surprise visit from the faerie world.Trivia: Sookie is seen reading a book by Charlaine Harris. Harris is the author of the book on which the TV series is based.Best Quote:

Eric: You broke my nose.
Sookie: Oh, please. It'll heal in five minutes. You're a vampire.
EricI know I'm a vampire, Snookie.
Sookie: It's Sookie.
Eric: I know what I am! I just don't know who I am.
Pam's BestI will give you twenty-four hours to deliver that witch to me. And if you don't, I will personally eat, fuck and kill all three of you.

The Review: Sookie meets Eric on the road and, though initially thinking he's playing some sort of game with her, she realizes he has lost all his memories and decides to help him by taking him home. I am so excited about this storyline that I don't even know where to begin. I must say, puppy-eyed lost Eric is the best thing we could have been given. This just shows exactly how good an actor Alexander Skarsgård can be. I'm simply melting when he gets all confused or smiles in apology of something he has done. If Sookie doesn't fall in love with him now, than I'm really going to get mad at her. It's also great to see Sookie incredulous with a hint of tenderness when he says his feet are ticklish or when he defends her from Pam. I couldn't help but chuckle every time he said or did something and you can actually see the actors having fun with this. How deliciously embarrassed was he when his fangs popped out! And the last scene, with him saying he was sorry after drinking Sookie's fairy godmother, but smiling sheepishly, was so much fun! There are so many delightful moments, comprised by glances, jokes, things Eric says or does and Sookie's reaction to them, that it would take me half a day to put into words.

Lafayette is the only one in the coven who has enough sense to know that they have to ask Eric for forgiveness. With Tara and Jesus disagreeing, he's left to face Pam by himself. What he said to Tara is exactly what I would have: "Would you climb down off that cross for two seconds?" I think everyone in that coven is just plain stupid and it was made very clear that they are being used by some vengeful spirit. We're still to learn its agenda, but my guess is, we're not very far off.
Jason was finally told why he is being held prisoner by the Norrises. Due to inbreeding, the women in Hotshot are not getting pregnant anymore, and if they do, the babies either die soon or they turn out with deficiencies. This is why they need, him, to make him their new Ghost Daddy. He finally realized that Crystal is not worth all the trouble she's put him through, but it's too bad he didn't see this earlier, before being turned into a were-panther and used to father some panther cubs. I felt sorry for him when he woke up and all the Hotshot women were lined outside the room, waiting for their chance to breed with him. Talk about revenge for his stud days. On the good side, we got to hear the legend of how were-panthers appeared on Earth, and that was kind of cool.
Jessica went to Bill for advice regarding the man she drank from at Fangtasia. As someone who has been lying to his girlfriend for a long time, I commended him for advising Jessica to tell Hoyt about it, but that still doesn't make me like him. But Jess seems to be as weak as he was and, though she told Hoyt all about it, glamoured it out of him the minute she saw how angry it made him. I love those two together, but she is going down the same path that made Bill lose Sookie's trust. Bill, on the other hand, seems to be doing very well. After ordering the true death for a vampire who had been caught on camera while feeding off a human, he found himself a new sex partner in beautiful lawyer Portia Bellefleur. Good riddance, I say!
Other stuff: Andy got all macho with Sam while going through V withdrawal. Sookie payed a visit to Alcide (welcome back to my favorite werewolf on TV) to ask for his help with Eric, only to find out that he was back with Debbie (who cleans up nicely, by the way). Tommy tried to convince Sam to buy Maxine's house because the natural gas below it would make them rich. Tara got all homicidal with Pam (I admire her for coming back as a strong woman, but frankly, I'd like to see Pam sink her teeth into her throat soon). Claudine tried to take Sookie away only to get killed by Eric and turn from the beautiful apparition into a skinny ugly corpse.
