Swimmer? Tri-swim is a definite must-try!

I've been a swimmer pretty much my whole life. Even as a baby, I loved the water. My parents signed me up for swim lessons when I was just a toddler, hobbling around the pool with my floaties and bucket hat.

I must have been a natural, because they never could get me out of the pool after that. I started swimming for a country club team when I was five. When I was in middle school, I started swimming for the YMCA and eventually the USA league. In high school, I swam and played water polo. I've even done aquatic therapy in one of those Hydroworx pools when I messed up my shoulder playing polo. Now, I just get in the pool any chance I get.

The point is, I've smelled like chlorine my whole life. Even out of the pool, any time I would sweat it would smell like I had just been in the natatorium.

I've tried several shampoos, but always reverted back to my go-to stuff I could buy at Target. Nonetheless, I knew I had to try the TriSwim package. Here's what I found:

The first thing I noticed, obviously, was the packaging. The four mini bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion came in a clear plastic bag that zippers at the top; perfect for a wet locker room or pool bag.

Smell

Let's be serious, the most important part of your body and hair care products - besides how well they work - is the smell. When looking for a new shampoo, what's the first thing you do when you pick up the bottle? Smell it, right? Well that's exactly what I did when I opened up the TriSwim package.

To be honest, it didn't smell like much. I guess it makes sense for uni-sex products not to smell fruity, but I was a little let down when I had to take a second whiff just to smell anything at all. The body wash was definitely my favorite, though. It has a nice, light grapefruit scent that is very refreshing after a day in the pool. The lotion is unscented, which was actually nice so you don't have to worry about it clashing with the smell of your perfume.

Each mini bottle has the TriSwim logo and label on it, but what I really noticed was the coloring - these just looked like they belonged in a swimmer's locker room shower. (Disclaimer: they are pictured in my bathroom shower; a locker room shower, unfortunately, does not look this clean.)

Performance

Overall, the TriSwim shampoo and conditioner worked well. I felt as if I needed to use a lot more than my normal shampoo to get everything sudsy and clean, though. I ended up using a bit of my own conditioner in addition to the TriSwim as well, just to play it safe since I wasn't sure how I felt about it. My hair felt fine afterwards, although it did kind of feel like the shampoo and conditioner didn't rinse out as cleanly. To be fair, I typically use a shampoo with no parabens, dyes, or silicon to avoid this problem so it likely wouldn't be an issue for most.

All in all, if you're frequently in the pool and are looking for a way to de-chlorinate, I'd recommend TriSwim!
