Amongst different skincare products, the one thing I’m most interested in are cleansers. As a lover and avid wearer of make up, cleansing my face of all the different paints and potions and feeling refreshed at the end of each day is important to me.
Trilogy has recently released their Make-Up Be Gone Cleansing Balm and I was definitely intrigued as I haven’t tried a cleansing balm, usually preferring the traditional gel cleansers instead. I’m such a huge fan of Trilogy products – I have yet to be disappointed so I was really interested to see how my experience with this one would go.
Let’s have a look at what Trilogy says this little pot of skincare goodness is all about:
A lush, end-of-the-day cleansing balm to remove foundation, mascara and lipstick like nothing else, even long-wear and waterproof formulations. Packaged with its own sustainably produced, unbleached, organic cotton cloth, this new way to cleanse is the perfect night-time ritual to melt away make-up and nourish your skin.
Combining a rich blend of pure plant oils, the luxurious balm melts on contact with warm skin, dissolving impurities and leaving your face perfectly cleansed, supple and silky-smooth.
As with most Trilogy products, this cleansing balm comes packaged in a beautiful, sturdy jar. I love that it comes with its own organic Turkish cotton cloth; it just lends an additional soft and luxurious touch to the product. To use, scoop a ¼ teaspoon amount of the cleansing balm onto your fingertips and massage on to dry skin. Massage the balm gently around your face, focusing on areas of heavier make -up and the balm will melt with the warmth of your fingertips and face. Finally, rinse and wring the organic cloth with warm water before gently wiping over the entire face. Ah, sounds like a pampering spa treatment! The beautiful coconut scent is also refreshing and soothing – love it!
My skin feels nourished, clean and supple after use without feeling dry. The anti-inflammatory properties of mango seed butter combined with the cleansing properties of rosehip and sunflower seed oil make this cleansing balm super calming and enjoyable. It’s also important to me that this cleansing balm does not leave any greasy residue.
As someone who wears heavier eye make up (cue heavy coats of mascara, eye liner, not to mention traces of glue from false eyelashes etc.), I did find that this cleansing balm worked better if I used a dedicated eye make up remover beforehand (something I didn’t mind at all; I still really enjoyed the cleansing balm overall and think it has a place in my routine). If you wear just light make up, this cleansing balm would have no problems removing all traces.
