Tri-tip and Frozen Yogurt for Dinner

By Marensmorsels @marentweets

Hey guys! How’s the day treating you? Mine was pretty good and event filled. I worked on some graphic design projects in the morning and stopped by my Grandma’s house to check on her. And after lunch we were back to putting together boxes for the final shipment of Birds on a Wire for CB2.

I made 125 boxes in just under 2 hours. My shoulders are so sore. Luckily we finished today so no more making boxes just printing and packaging.

Lunch

Lunch today was a snooze! I went with my Dad and co-worker to Wendy’s. I ate a full BLT Cobb salad that had mixed greens and romaine topped with bacon, blue cheese, egg, tomato, chicken breast, and avocado ranch dressing.

This salad is really tasty and huge! I was really full all afternoon, up to my run. It totaled 670 calories with the dressing.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich on whole wheat bread!

PB&J’s are my all time favorite food. Not very original or creative for someone who eats a lot of food but I can’t help it.

I’m digging this bread. Totally love the seedy crust.

This sandwich was 300 calories and was perfect pre-run fuel. I finished my fast(er) 3 miles completely content. I don’t like feeling really hungry right after a workout.

I did exactly 3 miles in 31:01 minutes. I’m getting closer and closer to a sub 30 minute 3 miles.

Open-mouthed smile

My splits were:

mile 1- 10:21

mile 2- 10:33

mile 3- 10:07

Strange that mile 1 was faster than mile 2. Usually my first mile is painfully stiff and slower than the others. Today, I did my 3 mile loop backwards and I think my wicked head wind was earlier in my run, which helped my time… hmmm.

Post-Run Fuel

More Watermelon!!!!!

I couldn’t resist an excuse to eat more melon! It’s so delicious. I’d swear, if I was blindfolded I’d say it was candy.

My sliver was 84 calories.

Dinner

Max surprised me and came into town for a dinner date. It wasn’t too fancy since we both did mid afternoon workouts and were in lazy clothes.

We decided to go to a new place. Red’s Burgers is a local burger joint and diner that supposedly is a South Salinas favorite.

Red’s took over the Campus Drive In, which had been on S. Main St. for as long as my Dad can remember. I really liked it inside and the menu was HUGE! They had burgers, shanks, sandwiches, salads, soup, all kinds of sides and then entrees.

It’s a pretty small little joint and it was packed with people the entire time we were there.

After surveying the menu I chose the tri-tip sandwich and Max had the South of the Border burger, which had a beef patty, lettuce, tomato, jalapeno, ortega chilis, and pepper jack cheese.

We had some seriously low blood sugar. Both of us were a little loopy and unfocused while we waited for our meals.

This tri-tip sandwich was so big I couldn’t even bite it.

I really loved the tri-tip. It was super moist, seasoned with a basic rub and really tender. The sandwich in whole was good but I didn’t want all the mayo and white bread so I took off the top bun and ate about half the sandwich then just picked out the meat and lettuce.

Max ordered some french fries for himself, but of course I stole a few…

I didn’t eat too many fries because I had Myo on the brain. I seriously think I’ve gone to the new self serve fro-yo place 3 out of the last 5 days.

A little Mountain Blueberry sugar-free fro-yo with blueberries, strawberries, carob chips, dark chocolate chips, yogurt chips, almonds and coconut flakes. I went really light on all the chips since I really didn’t want to spoil all my good eats today.

According to My Fitness Pal my yogurt was between 150- 200 calories.

My few bites of french fries were too small to count since they were skinny fries.

My tri-tip sandwich (what I ate of it) was 280 calories!
