She was a prisoner, a disease, not fit for the world, and she didn't know why. But she did know she wasn't allowed to die, she wasn't allowed to live and she wasn’t sane.
He was a soldier, a protector, but his foundation will be tested when he must destroy the only light in his dark world.

Pain darkened his eyes. "Never."

INTERVIEW

1.   What do you do when you aren’t writing?
If I’m not writing, then I’m usually with my kids or I’m reading.
2.   How long did it take to write your first book?
I wrote Touching Smoke about a year or so back, but let it stew on my hard drive until I was promoted to share it. If we remove that break, it took me six months to write and edit it.
3.   How did you choose your genre?
When I was younger, I used to look for books like the ones we have out now. I was so disappointed that there wasn’t enough. Back then, YA either fell into the Middle Grade or Adult category. There was never anything in between. We have come such a long way in the YA world that I am finally able to write in a category that I enjoy.
4.   Where do you get your ideas?
Touching Smoke came to me while I was writing the first book in my Hunter Series (which will be coming out spring 2013). It was one of those things that took root and refused to be untangled. I didn’t try. Instead, I sat down and wrote.
5.   Do you use an outline or just go with the flow?
I am so picky about this exact thing. I need an outline. I need structure. I have notes upon notes about everything, even really random things like what my character’s favorite colors are, their favorite chocolate bars, song, etc. So yes, I am pro outline! lol
6.   What were the biggest challenges to publishing your first book?
I think when I published Touching Smoke, everything was a challenge. No one told me anything. I had no one giving me pointers or at least pointing me in the right direction. I did a lot of research on my own and I’m still learning as I go.
7.   If you had to start your writing career over, would you change anything?
No. I think everything I did was a stepping stone to where I am today. I wouldn’t change anything.
8.   Have you written a book that you love but haven’t yet published?
I think I fall in love with everything I write so much that I wouldn’t be able to pick one story out of the group. But I do have stories upon stories that I want so badly to get out there, but everything has steps and I don’t want to rush.
9.   Tell us about your upcoming book.
After Touching Eternity, I have a fun, contemporary short story coming out called The Wrong Kind of Love. Following that, I’ll be releasing my Hunter Series. Then, Book 2 of the Touch Series, Touching Fire.
10.How did you come up with the title?
I am so selective when it comes with names. The character names have to match the story theme and the title has to match the plot and characters. It’s all very structured set up. With The Touch Series, each book title fits with the series because the love between Isaiah and Fallon, and the love between Amalie and Isaiah is basically like the life cycle of fire. It’s untouchable, beautiful, hot, passionate, warming… dangerous. I wanted to portray that in the series. Amalie and Isaiah’s love becomes immortal. It will reach eternity.
1)   Touching Smoke 2)   Touching Fire 3)   Touching Embers 4)   Touching Ash 5)   Touching Eternity (1.5) 11.Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?
