Top tips for choosing the best bridal bouquet

One of the most important flower bouquets that a bride will need to choose is her bridal bouquet. This bunch of flowers will be carried down the isle and it will also be featured in most of the wedding photographs as well. Therefore, this bouquet needs to be carefully thought out rather than simply choosing what you like.

Firstly, take a moment to consider your body shape as well as the style of your dress. If you are a bit on the short side, for example, you wouldn't want to carry a huge bouquet around everywhere. Likewise, if you are quite tall, then a small posy will most likely have little effect. It's all about proportion and, remember, your florist will also be able to offer you valuable advice in this regard.

As for the style of your dress, you want to make sure that the bouquet you choose will not outshine your dress or vice versa. A simple dress is usually best paired with a modest bouquet. An elaborate dress (like the one Princess Diana wore) needs a larger and more detailed bouquet. Again, ask your florist for their advice and don't be afraid to look for flowers online for inspiration.

It's also important to consider the accessories or decorative items that have been attached to the dress. The more detailed your dress, the more simple your bouquet should be. You don't want to create a cluttered appearance by wearing a highly detailed dress and carrying a detailed bouquet. Likewise, if your dress is really simple, then you can choose a more detailed bouquet.

Next, you will need to choose the right colours for the event as well as those that will compliment your skin tone. If you have fair skin, you might want to avoid pure white flowers. They tend to give you a bit of a washed out look. Choose ivory and other colours instead. If you have a darker skin tone, then white flowers will create a beautiful contrast. These days, there's no need to match the colour of your wedding flowers to the colour of your bridesmaids' dresses. So, don't feel limited by this.

Finally, make sure that you set a budget for all of your flowers - bridal and bridesmaid bouquets included. By knowing how much money you have at your disposal, it will help you make the best possible choices.
