Top Ten Tuesday: Reasons I Love Being a Book Blogger

By Curlygeek04 @curlygeek04

Today’s Top Ten topic, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, is ten things I love most about being a blogger/reader.  I’ve kind of mashed the two categories together, since blogging about books is what I love.  You’ve heard most of this from me before but here it is.

1)   Writing book reviews makes me a better reader.

It makes me more conscious while I’m reading about what I like and dislike, and forces me to really think about the book as a whole after I’ve finished it.

2)   I get great recommendations from other book bloggers.  I learn about books I’d never think to read on my own.

3)   There’s such a strong sense of community among bloggers.

4)   Freebies!  I love getting new reads on NetGalley but I especially love receiving books from new authors.

5)   The blog really lets me keep track of what I read, which pushes me to plan my reading better.

6)   Challenges get me to read books I might not otherwise, like classics and books set in other parts of the world.  Reading opens your eyes — but not so much if you stay in your comfort zone.

7)   Blogging means interesting conversations at home and work about books!  I love that my husband sends me articles about book reviewing, e-books, and publishing.

8)   Blogging is a creative outlet  that I really need.  My job is interesting but I don’t get to write, or sometimes even think very much.   Writing good book reviews is a skill I love developing.

9)   “Meeting” new people!  When someone new drops by the blog with a nice comment, it just brightens my day.

10)  There’s always more to learn about blogging.  I’ve recently discovered Edelweiss, Bloglovin, and I know there’s a lot more out there.  It’s easy to get overwhelmed by it all.

That was easy… happy Tuesday!
