Top Ten Tuesday: Older Books You Shouldn't Forget
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Top Ten "Older" Books You Don't Want People To Forget About (you can define older however you wish. Basically just backlisted books you think are great. Basically the point is to share books that could be forgotten about in the midst of all the new releases)

"Modern" YA Books worth remembering/discovering:
Revolution by Jennifer Donelly (2010)   Goodreads | Amazon
Beautifully written. Part historical fiction part contemporary, it's breathtakingly done.
Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles (2007)   Goodreads | Amazon
A YA romance without a happy ending. Perfect. So true to life and so fitting.
Glass Houses (Morganville Vampires) by Rachel Caine (2006)   Goodreads | Amazon
A vampire series that doesn't get too much play. I love this series though. Truly awesome female heroine.
Classics that should stay classics:

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle (1962)   Goodreads | Amazon
This is one of my all time favorite books. I first read it in third grade and have a very distinct memory of being totally mesmerized. It's the first book I can actively remember being totally lost in.
The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner (1942)   Goodreads | Amazon
I loved this series as a kid. It taught me to love books.
The Giver by Lois Lowry (1993)   Goodreads | Amazon
This book is just amazing and should be read by everyone. I was a full grown adult when I read it and I wish I had read it as a kid/teen.
Forever by Judy Blume (1975)   Goodreads | Amazon
Ah, Judy, you taught me so much about sex, love and growing up.
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery (1908)   Goodreads | Amazon
Everyone's favorite redhead and Anne 'with an e' (my middle name). Total love.
"Adult" books I read as a teenager and young adult that I loved:
Ragtime by E.L. Doctorow (1975)   Goodreads | Amazon
This book made me want to be a writer. I was blown away by the narrative style.
The Witching Hour by Anne Rice (1990)   Goodreads | Amazon
This series began my love affair with horror and reading.
