Posted on the 13 February 2013 by Yogeshvashist98 @YogeshVashist98

Video games have literally taken over the world at the moment. From free kids’ games available on gaming websites to the popular games in modern culture, such as Call of Duty and The Sims. A lot of children like to play these games, as do adults as well. People embrace the games, they become a hobby, and they indulge in the fun and are engrossed by what they see on the screen that is until something shocking happens of course.

Sometimes video games can catch people off guard because something occurs which they literally did not expect, such as the following eight most shocking deaths in video games:

1. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood

Assassins-Creed-Brotherhood

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood received fantastic feedback and even managed to exceed one million sales within a mere week of its release. The death of Lucy is a moment which specifically stands out. Desmond loses control of his own body and the women in possession of it then stabs Lucy.

2. The Darkness

When referring to a death in The Darkness it can only be Jenny – Jackie’s one true love. A gun to the head may not be the most innovative murder; however the build up and the story between the two characters made it truly shocking.

3. Final Fantasy X

This is one weird death – that’s for sure, because it is a dream that dies. Therefore, many would question whether the Final Fantasy X closing scene can be counted as a death at all. Nevertheless, the impact of Tidus vanishing is effective to say the least.

4. Left 4 Dead

left 4 dead

This first-person shooter game was released in 2008. It has received fantastic critical reception and received around 9 out of 10 from most review publications. The game also won several awards for its multiplayer aspect. Nevertheless, the death of Bill is something which still shocks many today. Bill kills himself in a scene called “The Sacrifice” which features his body in a pool of blood by the generator.

5. Batman: Arkham City

This action-adventure game was released in 2011. It received critical acclaim and won multiple awards, including several BAFTAs and Spike Video Game Awards. What’s so great about this game is that the shock is reversed – this is because everyone knows that the Joker is dying, and thus most people actually expect him to be saved. But that doesn’t happen…

6. BioShock 2

Parents often say that they would do anything for their children. A dad would thus give his life for his daughter…. that is if she doesn’t kill him first of course! In Bioshock 2 Eleanor kills her father Delta. However there are four different endings, so the reasons as to why differ from each scene.

7. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty has taken the video game world by storm as of late and has established itself as one of the most popular games. The deaths of Ghost and Roach are so shocking and unexpected that this list wouldn’t be complete with them.

8. Red Dead Redemption

Marston’s death represents that you can never trust anyone. Just as he feels free, he is gunned down, and what makes it worse is it is by those he trusted the most.

If you have seen any of these eight deaths then you will know that they are shocking to say the least. Let’s see what 2013 has to offer! Just make sure your little ones stick to the free kids’ games available on young gaming websites, as these are far too graphic!

We might have forgot the game of your choice so please do not forget to share with us.
