Top 6 Favorite Products For Eczema and Sensitive Skin.

By Kwilliford @ExquisiteEczema
I seldom do a post related to eczema and mine really is not that bad.  Plus when eczema is stress induced, some remedies may not help much.  But I have come across a few products that are fairly cheap and effective.  And no dermatologist required.
1.) Curel Itch Defense lotion.   I did a post on this a long, long time ago but it still stands as one of my favorite lotions.  It even has the seal of the National Eczema association and it was one of the first brands to come out with a lotion targeted for eczema.  Now almost all of the brands have one.  Considering the size of the bottle, Curel is a good bit cheaper than the others.  Typically, you will get a small bottle for around $12.  I paid around $8 for a 13 oz bottle. The great thing about this lotion is that is that not only does it reducing itching, it really moisturizes the skin and restores the pH balance.   Over time, flare ups are reduced and the skin's barrier is restored.  It is also fragrance free, which is really a must for eczema prone skin.  All of Curel's line would actually be good for dry, sensitive skin because of the ceramides.  Ceramides are lipids and they are an important part of the skin's structure.  People with dry, itchy skin usually lack ceramides.
2.) Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion.  This is another great choice for a daily lotion. Aveeno products contain colodial oatmeal, which soothes the skin and moisturizes it.  It can also be bought with SPF 15.  Even though this is a great lotion, I think that Curel Itch Defense would be a better option.
3.)  Nature Made Fish Oil.  The reason I specifically state Nature Made is because it woks very well for me.  I have had issues finding an effective fish oil, but this one actually works.  I can feel a difference in the way I feel and look vs when I do not take it.  Fish oil is also great for eczema and skin in general.  On a deeper note, fish oil helps with stress and depression.  Which can also effect eczema.  Omega 3 fatty acids are wonderful for overall health and if you are vegan, try flaxseed oil supplements instead.
4.) Olive oil.  Olive oil has lipids, vitamin A and E.  It absorbs deeply into the skin and provides a moisturizing barrier.  It does take a bit longer to absorb into the skin, but the effects will be well worth it.  It is important to keep eczema prone skin well hydrated.  Dry skin is more prone to flare ups and does not heal as quickly.  This is great for the body, but not for the face.  I have tried it and it resulted in blackheads.
5.) Blistex Revive and Restore lip balm.  My lips are the first part of my body to be impacted by a flare up.  This Blistex balm gives the best relief.  It works almost immediately to soothe the irritation and dryness.  It also promotes faster healing.  It is also a great preventive product because it keeps lips nice and soft.  The restore portion also has SPF 15, so you can slather it on before walking out the door.
6.) Noxzema Original Deep Cleansing Cream.  There are some out there that may tell you otherwise, but Noxzema has been great for my skin.  I am also prone to acne, and this cleanser takes care of both issues.  It leaves my skin feeling soft and clean.  Plus it is inexpensive and will last you a long time  Prior to using this, I had returned some products that left my skin irritated.  After two-three days of using Noxzema, the dryness and redness is gone.
Of course something that works for me may or may not work for you.  But these products should not make anything worse.  A healthy diet full of omega 3's, fruits and veggies will also be a huge help in the battle against eczema.
