Today's Review: Haribo Saft Goldbären
Here's a quick review for a little bag of sweets. I picked up a big old multipack of tiny Haribo bags from B&M a while back, because there were a few varieties in there that I hadn't tried out before. This was one of them, a twist on the classic Gold Bears, but this time with 25% fruchtsaft (that's fruit juice). Now, Gold Bears are a classic, so I was a little torn on whether the addition of real fruit could go some way to making them better.
The fruit juice is definitely noticeable, but I must say that they've chosen some odd fruits to chuck in there. The green is apple, that's fine, but the yellow is banana. I guess adding lemon juice might not be the tastiest option, but it's still a little odd eating a banana flavours gummy bear. Basically each bear is true to the fruit that lends its juices, but while 25% sounds a significant number, the flavor isn't perfect, it soon gives way to the regular old Gold Bear underneath. The fruitiness takes something of a back seat, but it's always present, and the juices are actually pretty nice. I don't think these beat the original Gold Bears, the mixture of natural and artificial flavours is slightly jarring, but this is a good twist on a classic.
My rating: 4/5
