I'm always up for a little bit of Pocky, they're the best pretzel sticks around, so much so that I've barely touched Mikado. That's brand loyalty for you. The other day I managed to find a couple of new flavours, so that make me pretty excited. The most interesting was this one, a choco banana variety, consisting of chocolate pretzel sticks coated in banana flavor confectionery.
"Banana flavour" is the key phrase here. The coating is very sweet, and more akin to the foam banana sweets than actual bananas. The chocolate pretzel is definitely a nice, crunchy base, but the chocolate flavor doesn't really shine through, instead being dominated by the stuff on top. Still, these certainly aren't bad. They're just okay. I'm not much of a fan of that artificial banana flavour, but if you are you'll probably like these. They're the same high quality Pocky that we know and love, but this variety certainly doesn't take home any awards from me.
