Tips For Preventing a Cold

By Vicknesh @wellhealthblog
Winter is here and more and more people are afraid of catching a cold. Everybody has been ill a few times and knows how hard it can be to do your job properly or have the normal amount of energy when you feel under the weather. Even a running nose can be very uncomfortable sometimes, especially if you have to work in a closed space, where you cannot breathe fresh air all the time. To this extent, here are a few cold prevention tips that you should take into consideration:Try to have a healthy diet
Even though you may have heard this already, a healthy diet is very important and it will not only help you prevent a cold, but also maintain your weight. A healthy diet includes three rations of fruit every day, especially citrus fruits because they contain vitamin C, which fights free radicals and prevents you from contacting many diseases. Always try to eat around the same hour, do not skip your breakfast and never eat later than 8 o'clock in the evening. A balanced diet does not imply that you should give up your favorite foods. It simply means that you should eat everything moderately and not abuse anything.

Get enough sleep
Most people forget that sleep plays a very important part in their general health. When your body is tired, it will not be able to fight possible infections and you are more prone to catching a cold. Regardless of how busy your schedule might be, always make sure you get at least 7 hours a sleep every night in order to allow your body to regain its strength and help you cope successfully with your daily demands.
Wash your hands as often as possible
Studies have shown that most germs enter out bodies because of dirty hands. Even though this may seem common sense, how many times have you eaten something in front of your computer, without washing your hands beforehand? So, make sure you wash your hands often, especially before eating something.
Exercise
Most people are under the impression that they simply do not have enough time to exercise every day. However, they prefer to drive to their jobs, take the bus, a taxi and do anything else they can to walk as little as possible. A thirty minute walk every day can help your body more than you can imagine. Try walking to your job rather than driving or get out from the bus a station earlier and soon enough you will begin to feel much better and, in the process, prevent yourself from catching a cold.

These are just four cold prevention tips that if followed, you should be able to get through the winter, without catching a cold or flu. Many people prefer to take various vitamins in the hope that they will feel better, when it would be much easier to eat an orange, an apple or any other fruit they like better every day. When your body is healthy, you have more energy and are able to do your work better as well as enjoy your free time to the fullest.Author:
