Enlist Help

One of the biggest things that happen with brides planning weddings is they attempt to micro-manage. You aren’t going to be able to be everywhere not should you want to be. Your friends and family members are waiting for you to step up and ask them to help with something. They will not only be eager to help you they may, even be a little hurt if you don’t ask for help. While you may not want to take care of all the details yourself you also aren’t going to want to hand some things off to a friend or relative. Select your own DJ, caterer and cake baker. You can ask for help filling out invites, setting up and taking down as well as gathering addresses for the big day.

Seek Resources

It’s likely you haven’t planned a wedding before. This means there are going to be details that you might not commonly think of. This is where getting a wedding planning book can help you from forgetting something. Whether it’s the center pieces on all the tables, the seating chart or the photographer there isn’t much you’re going to want to miss. With a book detailing everything you should do you’ll have a great place to start.

Set A Budget

In the very initial stages of planning the wedding there is going to be discussion of a budget. This is critical as many of us wouldn’t get to go to Germany for an extended honeymoon, wouldn’t get to have the dress we were really after or have the wedding that’s most important to us. Look at your resources again, plan out the things you are going to have and start working up a budget. Make sure to list where items are coming from and projected costs. This will help you get everything organized and help you not overspend as the wedding gets near.

Create A Center For Ideas

Okay, you’re on track with friends on standby, a good DJ hired, and you’ve even started making decisions about the food,: What’s next? There does seem to be a bit of lull as you get closer to the big day. This is when it’s important to have a binder or a project board. Here you should list out all the items that need to be taken care off as well as those that have already been addressed. This is where you can organize your friends that are helping you and where the two of you can set goals for what you’d like on the big day. Make notes about things you want to have or have happen on the day and things you’d rather not see. You can also keep track of favors you’ve asked for here.
