Tips for decorating your patio

Your patio is not only the perfect spot to relax, but it is also great for entertaining guests. Whether you are simply trying to create the perfect escape or the right venue for playing host, you will need to ensure that your patio is appropriately decorated. Here are a few great tips for doing just that.

Firstly, you will need to give your patio a good clean and get rid of any clutter. This will provide you with a clean slate and possibly even create more space for décor. While you're at it, you might find it helpful to rearrange some furniture to give the area a better flow.

Once your patio is clean and clear, it's time to take note of your lighting. You might like more than one option. For example, you may prefer bright lights for when you are setting up or cleaning up. Alternatively, dim lighting (like twinkle lights) is great for providing enough light without giving your guests a headache. If you are planning to host events that allow guests to move between the patio and your garden, then you can use torches to light your yard.

Now that you know where your lights will be positioned, you can start decorating any tables and corners. You don't want to make it difficult to move around your patio area. So, keep your plants and flowers out of the way but still perfectly in view. Corners can be decorated with larger potted plants while your tables can enjoy some colour. Choose flower arrangements that will suit your patio and preferences. Silk flowers will last long where as fresh flowers offer a uniquely natural appeal and, in many cases, a sweet scent.

If you are looking for smaller potted plants, you can't go wrong with succulents and cacti. Not only do these plants require little care, but they also grow slowly so you won't need to worry about them outgrowing their reserved spot in your patio area.
