Time Your Trip to New York to See Tennis Greats

By Zubitravel @zubitravel
New York is a city that is great to visit at any time of year. There are landmarks galore to visit, and whenever you go, you’ll never have enough time in one trip to see all the things that you wanted to.
But one great event not to be missed is the tennis US Open, which takes place in Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York every August.
The tournament is one of the four big international tennis events in the calendar year – and sits alongside the Australian Open in January, Roland Garros  (the French Open) in Paris in May and Wimbledon in the UK in June and early July.
This year there are some familiar names in the running for winner of the Men’s Singles at the US Open. If you check out different odds at sites like Paddy Power, you’ll see that Novak Djokovic is the favorite to win, followed by Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, and Roger Federer. No matter which player you want to win, it’s definitely an experience to go to the US Open in person.
It’s the very opposite of Wimbledon in so many ways – which can feel a little formal and stuffy in its traditions.
At Flushing Meadows the dress code is definitely casual and the atmosphere is relaxed. Tickets are easier to come by too – in fact many British tennis fans have cottoned on to the fact that you can get the cost of the trip to New York and the seats at Flushing Meadows for a similar price that you could only get seats at Wimbledon for Centre Court or Court Number One.
The same players play at every international Grand Slam; why not enjoy an almost free trip to the Big Apple at the same time as you’re getting your live tennis fix?
