Time for Some Cantonese Cuisine at King Chef Dimsum Kitchen

By Clari @clarisaysblog

If you want to enjoy some sumptuous Cantonese cuisine, head over to King Chef Dimsum Kitchen at The Food Circuit, The Block - SM City North EDSA. Now don't be confused with King Chef Dimsum Kitchen and King Chef Seafood Restaurant because they are basically the same.

Both were established by a husband-and-wife team - Michael Chan-Ang and Marites Apiado-Ang. Their journey began when Marites experimented and created various kinds of healthy but delicious soups for her husband who was dealing with an ailment. Michael loved the "soup treatment" which then sparked an idea. As a result, they opened a Cantonese Soup Kitchen.

The food they offered in King Chef Dimsum Kitchen became a huge hit that they decided to transfer to a bigger location. Thus, the birth of King Chef Dining Restaurant in Banawe. They serve a variety of healthy dishes; not to mention, dimsum and other Chinese food.

And due to an even higher demand, they opened another restaurant located at the Lucky Chinatown Mall. King Chef Seafood Restaurant serves authentic Cantonese cuisine made from the freshest ingredients and the finest herbs and spices from China.

Now going back to King Chef Dimsum Kitchen. Their SM City North EDSA branch may not be large but it offers an ample space and a great atmosphere. This is due to the restaurant's modern interior complimented by their dim lighting as well as cleanliness. When it comes to their food, you won't be disappointed.

We tried their Rice Toppings: Beef in Oyster Sauce, Fried Five Spice Pork, and Sweet & Sour Fish Fillet. All three are delicious. But if I were to choose a favourite, I would pick the Fried Five Spice Pork. The pork was tender and it was oozing with flavors.

Moving on with the dimsum. I love and usually order Xiao Long Bao, Hakaw and Japanese Siomai (if they have it in the menu). Though King Chef Dimsum Kitchen offers Hakaw and Japanese Siomai, this time I opted for a different one - Chiu Chow Style Kuchay Dumpling. Some people don't like the smell of kuchay but I don't mind because this one tastes really good.

Besides these, we also ordered Taosi Spareribs - a should-not-be-missed whenever we eat at a Chinese restaurant. For dessert, we tried their amazing Mango Balls. It looks like a traditional pastry but on the inside is a burst of sweet and delicious mango.

Want to dine at King Chef Dimsum Kitchen? They are located on the ground floor of The Block - SM City North EDSA.

Happy eating!
