Three Models ...

By Pmeurice
Some weeks ago, it started with an interesting study... the model posing at Heatherley was having a great presence - somehow, I was having some 16th century idea in my composition (surely some reminiscence of the Giorgione exhibition seen recently). I then started to work on an oil painting, and led two sessions to prepare for today's class. It was planned to be the last working session with this model and I was so looking forward to it - But the model didn't show up. Unfortunately, she had an accident and couldn't be present... Really a pity, as it left my painting unfinished... But hoping she is going well and that - who knows... - we will have the chance to work with her again.
Somehow - and I feel guilty as it is such an egoistic feeling - I felt really frustrated to interrupt my work... but Hey! ... I guess it goes like this sometimes.
Here is the unfinished work :

The School planned for another model - a beautiful and very gracious person - who is also a dance teacher. I did this graphite study and - as she allowed me to take some pictures - I might work on an oil painting (or a pastel? or both?) when time allows.
Here she is :
Three Models ...
A final picture to this post, a one day oil study I did some time ago in the portrait class... A very different style... I was very hesitant and just starting back with oil painting. I played with colors associations, fresh greens and blues :
Three Models ...
These three studies are nevertheless showing my hesitations - and I feel I need to focus more, work more, study more! once in front of the model, it takes me a while, and quite a fight, to go on an appropriate working path. I will have to sleep on it and think : maybe my ways of working are not good enough, maybe there is not enough time dedicated to art, or I should focus more on drawing and be more methodic in practicing my mediums... Not an easy path... But I will not give in.
