This Dog Needs Some Sleep

One afternoon a very weary looking dog wandered into my yard. At first I thought maybe he was lost, but he wore a collar and looked well fed, so I knew he must have a caring and loving home nearby.

When the dog slowly walked over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head, and then he followed me into the house. After going wearily down the hall, the dog contently curled up in a corner and fell asleep. Surprisingly an hour later, he was at the front door, waiting for me to let him out.

The next day, he was back at the same time. He greeted me, waited for his pat on the head, and then continued to walk inside and resume his spot in the hall. Again, he slept there for about an hour.

This ritual continued on and off for a few weeks. Curious, I decided to attach a note to his collar asking to know who owned this sweet, lovable dog, wondering  if they knew that almost every afternoon the dog came over to my house for a nap.

When the dog arrived back the next day, my note was replaced with another. It said, “He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 and he is trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?”
