We all know it’s a whole new world out there after 3 am on Friday and Saturday nights (of course, for some it’s a Friday night every night). Some people suddenly might find their shoes awfully uncomfortable, vision a bit blurrier and the truth so much easier to tell. Fast food restaurants that scream empty during the day suddenly fill up with people, hungrier than ever.
Last night I stepped into one of those restaurants being the only one sober in our group. The place was packed. People were standing around yelling orders to a girl who wasn’t working in the place, just happened to have a shirt looking a bit like the uniforms of the place. Some people were eating their eyes closed and someone was throwing up in his own hands in the right corner. Outside people were hailing cabs and heading to that Indian restaurant that sells wine under the till after hours.
There’s something magical about weekend nights and am hours, the feeling that anything could happen. For a moment you can be someone you want to be but normally are too afraid to try. For a moment it feels like there’s no tomorrow, just better keep in mind there always is one though. We all know the horror of going through your phone the next morning and hoping somehow your boss didn’t get that “You know what I really think about…” message. But if he did, you can be happy that now he knows and he might even appreciate you telling the truth. The next time you can try doing the same thing on a Monday morning.
