Smartphones are no longer just luxury and fun. They have become a necessity now. No matter where we are, we feel the need of smartphone to stay connected with the rest of the world. However, most smartphones are too delicate and may get easily damaged. Many brands are now releasing dustproof and water-resistant smartphones to give these devices some sort of durability. However, the adventure lovers might still find it hard to find a sturdy smartphone capable of withstanding the roughness of their adventure trips.

If you too love going on adventurous trips or need an especially rugged smartphone, then this news might interest you. Cat Phones has launched the flagship Cat S60 in India and it is Waterproof to 5m and IP68 compliant.

On the announcement, Linda Summers, Chief Marketing Officer, Bullitt Group, global mobile device licensee for Caterpillar Inc. said, "Following our evaluation of the Indian market over the last year, we have spotted an immense opportunity for our devices in the rugged smartphone category. Recognizing India's potential as a sophisticated and fast growing market, we are looking to launch in the country with a highly-targeted offering for both consumers and the B2B sector. The Cat S60 claims to be world's most waterproof smartphone available at present. It can remain submerged in up to 5 meters of water for 1 hour, thanks to its Lockdown switch. This allows the device to be used as an underwater camera. Its touchscreen responds to wet or gloved fingers.

It is exceptionally tough and rugged smartphone exceeding military specs in terms of durability. It can withstand drops from 1.8m thanks to its strengthened die cast frame. Cat S60 is IP68 certified dustproof, shockproof, waterproof. It is also MIL-SPEC 810G certified which gives added assurance of the toughness of the device.

Integrated Thermal Imaging:

Besides being rugged, the Cat S60 is also world's first smartphone that has an integrated thermal imaging technology. It has an embedded thermal camera from FLIR, the global leader in thermal imaging technology. The thermal camera can visualize heat and highlight temperature contrasts. As per the information I got, Cat S60 can measure surface temperature from a distance of up to 50 feet. It can see through obscurants like smoke.

These abilities allow the phone to be used in diverse professional and domestic use cases like detecting heat loss around windows and doors; identifying over-heating electrical appliances and circuitry; and spotting moisture and missing insulation. The thermal imaging can also help in seeing in complete darkness.

Additional Features of Cat S60:

The Cat S60 has a dedicated SOS button. This helps the user to quickly send location coordinates message to pre-selected contacts in case of an emergency. It also has a programmable key which can be customised with short press and long press quick-launch shortcuts. It also has an application called Zello which makes the phone function as a Walkie Talky and can prove very handy on adventure trips.
