I wish I had a dollar for every time one of the gun-rights defenders said the problem is not the guns it's the crime. If only we'd get tough on criminals, especially violent offenders, they cry, if only we'd stop being so soft on repeat offenders, all would be well.
Like many another pro-gun argument, this one doesn't pass the truth test. I'm afraid those gun extremists are incapable of differentiating truth from falsity.
