The True North Indian Fare – K Restaurant

By Rohit Dassani

K Restaurant is located on the JNC Road in Koramangala just close to Indigo Pub or Kopper Kadai. The restaurant serves authentic North Indian vegetarian food from UP. As soon as you enter you see beautiful decoration from Indian handi’s while the décor is simple. The best thing about the restaurant is the fact that they use recycled plates, kulhars and wooden spoons. Almost all the food items are served in these recycled plates.

The menu comprises of North Indian delicacies with a few Chinese dishes as well. We started off with their specialty item the Lassi Shot. The Lassi shots were delicious as it was fresh and light, the kulhars were dipped in sugar syrup to enhance the flavors and it worked out! Next we tried the Thandai and it was traditional. The Thandai was made inhouse with loads of saffron, pistachios and almonds, amazing!

For starters we tried the Veg Tandoori Platter. First we had the Achari Paneer Tikka, the achari flavor was mild and went really well with their green chutney and pickled onions. Next the Tandoori Cauliflower were so tender that it melted at the slightest touch, the marination had sipped inside making it succulent. The Stuffed Tandoori Aloo were stuffed with paneer stuffing, the aloo were grilled really well. Next we tried the Veg Seekh Kebab, this was very light with loads of flavoring. But the best is the Hara Bhara Kebab, these deep fried kebabs were super soft and tasted amazing.

For the main course we tried the K Special – Sanjh Savera Kofta which comprises of two gravies one white and the other green. The kofta were made out of Khoya and very soft. The Sanjh Savera Kofta dish is a combination of Malai Kofta and Nargis Kofta. The dish is a must try here as it was something very different. The Dal Fry on the other hand was delicious and cooked in a very simple way making it perfect to be tried with any kind of breads. We tried these curries with Stuffed Kulcha, Missi Roti and Butter Chapati. Lastly we tried the Veg Palao with roasted Papad. The Palao was made with a bunch of veggies like beans, carrots, peas and so on. Perfect to go with the roasted papads.

We tried the Gulab Jamun for desserts. The jamun was piping hot but soft from inside, making it perfect. K Restaurant also serves thali comprising of the best items from the kitchen.
