The Smoke House...

By Sianbowen85 @sianbowen85
For our 5 year anniversary...waaaah still can't believe its five years...it's crazy...we went to a little restaurant in Pontcanna called The Smoke House...After opening earlier this year we've been dying to go there and this was the perfect opportunity...
Owners Richard and Jaz Davies took over the restaurant from the old Diner 77 spot on Pontcanna Street and turned it into a fantastically sophisticated American eatery...something I couldn't wait to try after spending so long watching so many food programmes featuring American, smoked goodness...I was totally in my element...
The Smoke House...
With only 10 tables available we booked waaaay in advance but I would recommend doing this as they are always busy...totally understand why...the food and atmosphere were amazing...
The Smoke House...
As soon as we got there we felt so welcome as the staff were so lovely and friendly and we got pretzels to nibble on while we looked through the menu...soooo much to choose from including steaks, racks of ribs, burgers, pulled pork and plenty more...
I'm definitely a starters kind of girl so knew...as it was a special occasion...we would be going for them...we chose the vegetable chilli and southern fried chicken to share between us...
The Smoke House...
Now the mains we struggled to decide on as there was just too much choice of things we both loved but we eventually decided...Sam had the full rack of ribs and I went to for Roadhouse burger...beef burger topped with either beef brisket or pulled pork...I went for the pulled pork...

The Smoke House...
Honestly the ribs were the best we had ever tasted...as Sam said the knife was wasted as the meat just totally fell off the bone...they were also massive...and as you can see my burger was too...definitely bring your appetite when you go there guys...
I absolutely loved the way everything was served too...little saucepans for the BBQ sauce with the ribs and tins for the chips...the wooden boards instead of plates gave it an authentic feel too...
We were far too full for pudding but we did manage to squeeze in one more of the biggest bottles of bud we've had while we soaked up the atmosphere...
The Smoke House...
This restaurant is not only quaint with a fantastic homely atmosphere but the food it unbelievable...full credit to staff, owners and chef for a fantastic meal and making our 5 year celebrations special...
We'll definitely be going again and we hope you do too...
