I saw this book and I just immediately KNEW my mom would want to read it. Firstly, we are from Ohio so anything midwestern is awesome to us. Thanks to the fact that I belong to the Tyndale Blog Network, I was able to get this book for review.

Here’s what my mom had to say about The Sisters of Sugarcreek by Cathy Liggett:

“A tragedy happened in Sugarcreek, Ohio when a fire burned down Faith Community Church of Sugarcreek. It changed the lives of a lot of people that day, and two lives were lost – both Lydia’s husband, Henry, and Jessica’s Aunt Rose.  Lydia and Jessica must find a way of earning a living for themselves.

Henry had kept Lydia isolated and she did not know many of the Amish community around them. Lydia is now an Amish widow and must find a way to support herself. Jessica quit the job that she loved and moved to Sugarcreek.  Jessica has become the owner of Aunt Rose’s Knit One Quilt Too Cottage which is so popular in this little town. Jessica does not know much about knitting or being a manager of a small business.  She has to make a go of it to support her small son Cole and herself.

Liz Cannon a widow who works as a real estate agent was Aunt Rose’s best friend together they had some secret activities that they would do to provide hope to someone that they thought needed it.

A woman needs girlfriends.  These three ladies becomes friends and the story takes you on a journey of their friendship and their lives. On this journey you share the laughter, the worries, the loneliness, and the romances, everyday problems in which the reader can easily relate too.   Cathy Liggett writing from a Christian point of view shows the reader the events that actually changes the lives of these three.  This is a book that you cannot put down.  I felt this was an uplifting book and helps one handle difficult situations.  I look forward to reading more of Cathy Liggett’s books.”

Coney Island was never at the top of my list when I was a kid (scaredy cat!). My favorite places were the library, the card shop and hardware stores. As my husband will tell you, it’s a good thing that books were my first love. I’m a lot better at fixing up characters in stories than anything that involves a hammer and nails or even super glue. Besides writing, I enjoy impromptu visits from our two grown kids and doing the empty-nester thing with my one true love. We’re also enjoying the latest addition to our family, a Boxer mix named Chaz.
