If Wikipedia would add “plays in basements and community center halls” to the definition of punk rock, we’d have a perfect way to describe The Sidekicks. Hailing from Cleveland, they’ve been around since 2003 and have mastered their style in true punk fashion. Growing up playing in local spots and creating a name for themselves, they’ve most recently moved on to work with a producer that has Band of Horses and Fleet Foxes on his client list. True to the style of punk, their songs are filled with catchy guitar hooks, concentrated drums in the backgrounds and high and spirited vocals.

The lyrics on The Sidekicks’ newest album, Runners in a Nerved World, are what truly helps define this band as punk. The words are confrontational but understated — they sneak into your mind and urge you to question your world without smacking you upside the head. Be sure to check em out!
