The Ship Hotel, 83 High St, New Romney, Kent

It says hotel but don’t be fooled in to passing it by. The ground floor is home to a large pub/restaurant. There is also parking at the rear, and a pub garden.
We visited one lunch time and most of the other patrons were of retirement age. There was even an over 60′s menu deal.
We had the special of the day, which was roast lamb, with ‘roast’ potatoes (which were actually deep fried not roasted), accompanied by a side dish of vegetables; carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower, gravy and mint sauce completed our tasty lunch. Good value at £7.95.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was the limited choice of Real Ale. There were a couple of Shepherd Neame beers on tap. Spitfire and Master Brew. Other than that it was the bog standard industrial beers.
The beer situation was a serious let down, having said that, if we were passing we would go there again, but we wouldn’t go out of our way to revisit.
