The Rodney Dangerfield of American Politics

The Washington Times

“Former Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said President Obama’s weakness on the world stage is only opening the door for Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to continue his aggression . . . .  Bolton said, ‘We’re in for a dangerous time in Europe for the next couple years. And yet the president doesn’t seem to pay attention anymore.’”

Why doesn’t Obama “pay any attention anymore”?

I think it might be because he’s screwed up just about everything he’s touched, and the American people’s high disapproval ratings are weighing heavily upon him.

He has over two more years to go in office, and I suspect that he’s viewing those two years as less of a triumph than a prison sentence.

Obama is caught in one of the toughest prisons in the Federal Penitentiary system:  The White House.  I don’t think he’s tough enough or smart enough to make it in that joint.

I don’t even think he’s tough enough to make it with his cellmate, Michelle. If so, there’s no place for Obama to hide besides the golf course—and even there, he can’t escape the paparazzi.

I think he’s resigned to “do his time” in the Oval Office, but once he gets out, I think all we’ll hear is “free at last, free at last!” as he scampers down the road and then disappears just like George W. Bush.

•  About two weeks ago, Reuters reported in “Obama makes rare campaign trail appearance, people leave early,” that:

“With approval levels hovering around record lows, Obama has spent most of his campaign-related efforts this year raising money for struggling Democrats, who risk losing control of the U.S. Senate in the Nov. 4 midterm election.

“Most candidates from his party have been wary of appearing with him during their election races because of his sagging popularity.

“President Barack Obama made a rare appearance on the campaign trail on Sunday with a rally to support the Democratic candidate for governor in Maryland, but early departures of crowd members while he spoke underscored his continuing unpopularity.”

I’ve been around for a while, and I can’t recall ever before hearing of a President who caused a significant number of people in an audience composed of his own party to leave an auditorium when that President started to speak.

Obama really is the “Rodney Dangerfield of American politics.”

He gets no respect.  Not even from his own party.

And rightfully so.

He’s an embarrassment to all.

Here’s another example:

•  The Hill (“Obama: Dem candidates avoiding me ‘have supported my agenda’”) reports:

President Obama delivered a blow to Democratic Senate candidates looking to distance themselves from his flagging approval ratings, saying lawmakers avoiding him on the campaign trail were ‘strong allies and supporters’ who have ‘supported my agenda in Congress.’”

How stupid is that?

Obama knows that Democrat candidates want to distance themselves from him, but Obama nevertheless publicizes their loyalty to him and his policies.  I’ll bet that by claiming these Democrat candidates are really Obama supporters, Obama’s cost them another 2 or 3% of the vote.

But, this isn’t merely a demonstration of Obama’s stupidity. I think it’s his vanity.  Obama refuses to admit that he’s such a colossal incompetent that even Democrats try to avoid him.  Instead, he seems to claim that even people who avoid him, are really still in love with him.

Well, they’re not going to love him if he costs them reelection.

•  The New York Times (“Black Vote Seen as Last Hope for Democrats to Hold Senate”):

“The confidential memo from a former pollster for President Obama contained a blunt warning for Democrats. . . . [I]t predicted ‘crushing Democratic losses across the country’ if the party did not do more to get black voters to the polls.

“‘African-American surge voters came out in force in 2008 and 2012, but they are not well positioned to do so again in 2014,’ Cornell Belcher, the pollster, wrote in the memo, dated Oct. 1. ‘In fact, over half aren’t even sure when the midterm elections are taking place.’”

Good luck with getting a strong black turnout.

Even blacks are mad at Obama for encouraging an invasion by illegal aliens who are taking jobs that might otherwise have gone to blacks.

President Obama is really an extraordinary politician.

Of course, he’s managed to alienate Republicans.  That’s no surprise.

He’s also managed to alienate a majority of the American people—that’s somewhat surprising.

He’s even managed to alienate lots of Democrats—and that’s surprising.

But Obama – America’s first black president – has even managed to alienate a lot of blacks—and that’s shocking.

I wouldn’t have thought that was possible.

How could any politician who’s so widely disliked and viewed with contempt manage to get elected to the Presidency twice?

The answer is Republican assistance.

The Republicans have insisted on running a proven losers John McCain and Mitt Romney against Obama, and of course, the Republicans lost.

•  When Obama is finally removed from office, the whole nation will breathe a sigh of relief and, for the most part, say “Thank God he’s gone”.

•  Incidentally, I’m looking forward to 2016 when I expect the Republicans to again run the proven loser Mitt Romney, and the Democrats to run a proven buffoon, Joe Biden. It should be an election contest for the ages and for Saturday Night Live.

I think Hillary is finished.  I think she’s fallen in love with her first grandchild.   After playing Lady McBeth for the past 30 years, I think Hillary wants to be a doting grandmother.   I think Chelsea’s new baby girl may have ended Hillary’s quest for the Presidency.

If so, remind me to thank that little kid when she grows up.
