The rich must be subordinate to the people, not the other way around. That’s the only way any kind of system is going to work.
This is backwards. It’s not the poor that are in a position to hurt the economy, it’s the rich. The class war began long ago and the rich are still at it. They are the ones waging war. The poor are apathetic as always and you cannot blame us. Political lobbying is a game for people with free time and resources. Even attending a protest takes resources that many poor do not have.
It’s the rich that are tanking the economy, and they have no choice. This was what Marx elaborated in Capital as the great weakness of capitalism. It’s not the environmental impact. That had been pointed out by many other thinkers before Marx, and he was introducing a new criticism that it was the rich themselves who would fuck it all up. He was quite right. The accumulation of wealth at the top is inevitable if you allow them to go about their business as they see fit. That accumulation at the top then acts like a series of massive blood clots in the circulatory system of the economy. The final prognosis is a stroke or heart attack.
That’s not caused by the poor. That’s caused by the rich. It’s not the poor who are reacting in ways that could hurt the economy, it’s the rich that are reacting in ways that already have completely hamstrung the economy. Fiscal policy is fucked. Rates have been at near zero for over six years. That is an out of control system.

Which then destroys the entire system and you end up with Latin America. The only thing that stops this natural tendency is when the people decide to take power and rule over the rich. That is called democracy, or socialism if you will. Then wealth can redistributed downwards from those who sit on their asses and collect rents to people who actually work for a living, thereby saving the capitalist system. The only way to save capitalism is via some type of socialism (people’s rule over the rich). You can’t allow capitalist countries to be ruled by the capitalists. Capitalist countries must be ruled by socialists. A socialist is anyone who does believe in profit as the overriding value. A socialist is anyone who is willing to constrain the profits of capital in the interests of the workers, the consumers, the environment, society and even the capitalist system itself.
