The Pressures Of Being Single

By Hollysbeautybox @hollysbeautybox
It might come as no surprise to some of you that I'm single. If you follow me on social media, You will have noticed a few 'single ladies, all men are arseholes, we don't need no man!' type posts and whilst I am still quite happy being single, I do feel the pressures of being single at 30 years old.
The Pressures Of Being Single
At 16 years old, I used to panic that I would be single forever and no-one would ever fancy me. I remember feeling pressured to have a relationship even at that age. Obvs, looking back I can't believe I spent so much time and effort worrying about stinky boys that didn't deserve my time or my 'Flower' (Monica from Friends joke, if you know it you'll get this reference. If not #SorryNotSorry).
I'm 30 years old and a grown (bigger than average) assed Woman. By now, I expected to well and truly have my shiz together. When I was 18 I had this ideal of being married by the time I was 25, living in a mansion because I would obviously be a self made millionaire or a superstar, I'd have three kids with one on the way and 2 dogs, 4 cats and an Alpaca(This reference is for you Rach & The Archie Girls if you're reading this LOL)
To be fair, I really shouldn't pay much attention to how my 16 year old self thought, considering I also spent much of my teenage years as a goth who listened to Marilyn Manson's version of 'Tainted Love' and imagined myself as one of the 'edgy' girls who had the pillow fight at the end of the video. Instead I looked more like Mrs potato head with black eyes, blue tinted hair and jeans that flared out wider than the width of my ass. That's pretty wide FYI. Oh, and not forgetting the 'chains' on the pockets.
Moving swiftly on..
The truth is that I'm human and I do spend a significant amount of time worrying about the same things that I worried about when I was 18. I live at home and I'm happy, I'm single, I don't have any kids, I have an amazing job (full time blogger – you're welcome – haha!) and although it's not what would have been ideal, life isn't ideal and we all have to adapt to life's hurdles.
I don't feel the pressures of being single on a constant basis, but when a relative asks "You not got a man yet?" You feel about the size of a grape that's shrunk to a wrinkled old raisin.
I know I'm not the only one feeling the pressure of being single, so let me know about your experiences below.
PS – Don't tell me to join Tinder, I look better in photo's than I do IRL so it’s not a good idea LOL!
