The New Jungle Hut

By Alternativeeden @markngaz

Enough of reminiscing, here it is, the new Jungle Hut!

Time flies so fast and it doesn't feel such a long time ago when we had to do these chores first, last May to be specific...

The sides have to blend in with the garden

Barenaked wood but not looking too bad as is. Twinkles inspecting the work

Clear lacquer on to the ceiling as we like the bare wood look here

But not on this one

It was surprisingly difficult to find a lime green paint for use on external wood, from memory I think we spent an entire day looking for it but we finally managed to. Also we had some hesitations at first if lime green would look good against different shades of brown the rest of the woodwork will be so.

Think tropical colours I was saying (lime green against dark wood, or a coconut shell)? And then I remembered the Coconut song...

She put de lime in de coconut, she drank them bot up...

Yep, I think it will work so lime green it was! After several coats of paint, positioning the furniture, and putting on the accessories later here it is now:

Tropical Mondial - we decided to continue with the tropical theme as it was before but instead of imbibing a look pertaining to a particular part of the world we decided to go non specific this time. Afterall the tropics does circle the globe. So no African masks, Buddha heads, Australian lizards, or other items  that are specific to a continent or country this time.

We reinforced the tropical theme by using bright tropical colours against dark brown ones.

I thought it was a bit ironic at first to put candles in here but they are great to use when it starts to get dark and we're still hanging around in here.

It's a great place to relax and unwind, especially at the end of a gardening day. The views from here aren't too bad either.

The new jungle hut has a deeper veranda compared to the old one hence the arrangement of the chairs is much better. Also the feel is much improved as there's more space to play with. The old jungle hut had bamboo balustrading which made it look quite unique and it was carried over to this new one. Fortunately we still had loads of spare bamboo poles left and they were used together with most of the old ones. And it's nice to know too that bits of the old jungle hut lives on with the new one.

Really pleased with the end result and looking forward to years and years of relaxing in it during the warmer months!
