Get Your Socks On

Want a good use for old socks? Then put them on for dusters! Grab your cleaning supplies and lightly spray the socks with some cleaning solution. Then run your feet over those hard to reach places like skirting boards and corners of floorboards. This tip works great at the bottom of dishwashers and fridges and window frames and table legs too. Socks also work great over your hands when you want to get rid of dirt and dust on blinds. Just remember to dampen the socks slightly first.

Smart Fridge Advice

Hate it when it comes to the monthly cleaning job of getting all the crumbs and dirt out of the fridge? Make life easier on yourself by lining the shelves in your fridge with plastic food wrap before you place anything on them. Come the end of the week all you have to do is lift up the liners and throw all the crumbs and dirt with ease.

Quick Shine In The Kitchen

Dingy, dirty appliances can automatically make your kitchen look tired and older than it is. It takes no more than ten minutes to make things sparkle in your kitchen. Spay furniture polish all over your fridge and front of the oven for glistening doors. Put all your gas hob burners in sealed plastic bags with a ¼ cup of ammonia. Leave overnight, and in the morning they will look like new. Wipe down toasters, kettles and microwave with a disinfectant wipe for a quick clean look. To quickly clean your blender fill halfway with warm water and then add dishwashing liquid. Blend for 15 seconds and then wash away the soapy liquid and rinse.

Disinfect Objects You Forget About

Things like our cell phones, TV remote controls, and handbags pick up a lot of grime and germs that we don’t even think about. Spend five minutes running a disinfectant wipe over phone’s, controls, handbags, and purses. We touch these things daily, so it’s best to give them a quick wipe every couple of weeks. While you’re at it, why not run one over your laptop to? And to get any stray crumbs or dirt out of the keypads, run an old toothbrush vigorously over the keyboard.

And Talking of Toothbrushes…

You can also use an old toothbrush to clean the grime that builds up on the grouting between your tiles. Make up a mixture of baking soda, Borax, and water and then get scrubbing away. An old toothbrush also works well to clean those hard to reach places on faucets. And it’s also perfect to clean your waffle iron as it reaches all the nooks and crannies with ease. Bet Mary Poppins has never thought of that!
