A new season, a NEW me.  Last month, I cut off ELEVEN inches of hair.  After the first snip, my awesome hair gal, Connie, said, “You aren’t freaking out!”  She was right.  I was READY.  Ready for a big change in my look and my life.  It was symbolic to me.  I want things to be simpler… my hair, my closet, my life!  I’ve been going through some massive purging, and it hasn’t even touched the surface.  It feels great, but I can simplify and get rid of so much more.  Anyhow, I’ve done a dramatic cut before (about 12 years ago) and can give you some tips about how to go from long hair to a short hairdo without the regret or freakout session!

1.  Do your research.  // What hair style are you looking for?  BTW, I use Pinterest for some help!  When you find exactly what you want, then make sure you have a front, profile, and back view.  Are you going to have your hair colored?  Find a picture of a celebrity, blogger, or friend that is similar in skin tone to you.  Does your hair person do good shorter cuts?  If not, find a friend that has short hair that you like and ask about their stylist.

2.  Have visuals.  //  Remember, your stylist is not a mind reader.  P.S. I’ve made THAT mistake before!  eek.  And as mentioned before, bring multiple views to make sure your stylist has a good idea of what you want.

3.  Think about styling. // So you chopped off eleven inches.  Now what?!  Make sure you think about HOW you are going to style your hair after the cut.  Straight or wavy, is that it?!  There’s more… I found some fun You Tube videos that will help with different options for the long bob.

4.  Donate if you can! // Locks of Love is a great organization that helps children suffering from medical hair loss.  They will accept hair that is a minimum of 10″ and now accept color treated hair.  You’ll feel great with a new hairdo AND your longer locks are going to a good cause!

All of these tips helped me be confident with my new hair!  Hopefully, they can help if YOU are considering chopping it off.  And share any other tips that you think are helpful!!!

P.S. I wore this outfit to my mentor student’s final presentation!  I ADORE that bell sleeve top – always a sucker for a good sleeve.  Thought a cracked skirt was the perfect texture to go with a simple white top!  And you can never go wrong with black strappy sandals and a classic bag.   :)  Happy Monday Friends!
