The Lima Metro

From Wikipedia

Not to be confused with El Metropolitano, the metro is what most people call a subway, or elevated train, electric train, tram, street car, or tube, depending on where you come from. It's above ground due to the fact that Peru still hasn't mastered the technology of building earthquake proof infrastructure, they should check out what Japan does to make their subway.
Tokyo started their subway in 1927, Chicago started theirs in 1892, and Lima actually started there in 1990 with President Alan. Mismanagement of funds, blatant bribery, and fleeing to France for asylum put a halt to the electric train for over 25 years.
Under Alan's second term as president he started up construction once again. There's currently only one line with 16 stops, but there are plans for four more lines. In the beginning of the year, it wasn't charging passengers, but it's now 1.50 soles per person. You also have to pay 5 soles to get the card in the first place.
Let's hope that Peru continues to add more stops and stations and doesn't let corruption, bribery, or changing presidents to get in its way.
