In the second of The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong’s ‘MO SOUND-BITES’ series of electronic music events, on Friday 16 June 2017, MO Bar collaborates with music promoter Jason Swamy to present a unique performance by the New York electronic musician & DJ Com Truise, for the first time in Hong Kong.

Renowned for his unique experimental and bottom heavy “mid-fi synth-wave, slow-motion funk”, Com Truise’s live performance of all original music materials at MO Bar coincides with the release of his new album Iteration and marks the artist’s musical inputs for the new, soon-to-be-released Blade Runner 2049 movie featuring actors Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling.
Notable for his singular style of melodic beat music, each piece ties together Truise’s “neon-streaked melodies, big drums, robotic grooves and bleary nostalgia,” telling a story of “longing, hope, anxiety, and triumph.”
“I try hard not to write from my personal life, but it’s inevitably going to seep into the music,” the artist explains. “It’s basically like I’m scoring this film in my head, but that film I’m scoring is also somehow my life.”

Guests of the evening can expect Com Truise’s signature synthy grooves and songs from his new album released the day prior to the event, Iteration, with great, creative sound and visual expression by Valere Terrier of Visual System.

Com Truise – a play on the name Tom Cruise. Is one of the many personas of producer and designer Seth Haley. Born and raised in upstate New York and operating out of a 12’-overrun apartment in Princeton, New Jersey. An admitted synth obsessive, Haley has been making music on the side for roughly a decade. Using pseudonyms like toothbrushes (Sarin Sunday, SYSTM, Airliner). First as a DJ, and currently, as an excavator of softer, window-fogging synth-wave.
