The Initial Reviews of the Short List......

Posted on the 18 April 2013 by Andrew Monks @mramonks
Well the two devices on the short list have had their first reviews and it is good and bad news........

First up the Huawei G510.

The Initial Reviews of the short list......

When I first read the Cnet review I wasn't at all surprised, The stock ROM on my G300 was bloated and sluggish and when I ran ANTUTU the benchmark score was significantly lower than it is now with CM10 as well as the picture quality from the camera showing significant improvements with the jump to Jelly bean from Gingerbread. Now with the bloated software that Huawei supply as standard then I can believe that the performance is slow and lack luster but as soon as CM10 is ready for it I cant see any reason that these problems would be ironed out........ As for the comments on design, well its not a looker but that is way down the priority list for me. At £130.00 I dare you to find an android powered device that is better.

Now for the Big Boy...... The Asus Fonepad

The Initial Reviews of the short list......
When I first got my TF101 I fell in love with the design, the feel, the performance etc etc, and shortly after I heard about padfone but was put off by the fact the tablet was just a paperweight without the phone plugged in but this thing? OOOOOH. Well the single core hyperthreading processor might put you off, or the smooth rear panel or the fact it is not Gorilla Glassed, But for £180.00 what more do you want? It is cheaper and more functional than a Nexus 7 and blows the ipad mini out of the water. It even looks awesome and what is the price of a slip case these days?

Having read these reviews I know which way i'm heading and i'm sorry to say Huawei it is not your way.

Do you own either of these devices? Have you had a look and a play? Let us know before I get my wallet out next Friday.
