The Grounds of Alexandria

By Takeeatfoodblog
The Grounds of Alexandria is definitely the boss of all cafes, once you step into the premises you feel like you've entered a completely new world. The Grounds of Alexandria has been the hype for a while now and I finally got a chance to try it! A few months ago my friend and I had planned to go to the Grounds but we were unable to find parking so we didn't end up going, so this time we were determined to find parking! Luckily on this occasion we were able to find parking on the street behind- it was around a 10-15 minute walk from the Grounds.

My friend and I arrived at around 12:30pm and it was quite packed, since it was lunch time. We were given one of those buzzers (pictured below) so we could explore The Grounds while we wait. The waiting time for a table for two was around 15-20 minute, I was expecting to wait since I heard it was always busy. There is a lot of things to look at while waiting, such as Kevin Bacon the pig, other farm animals, flowers, pastries and cute rustic decorations.

Chicken pot pie
The presentation of the chicken pot pie was definitely something that stood out for me. Each element of the dish was placed on chopping/ pizza board and the dish really represented the rustic theme that was running through the cafe. The chicken pot pie was not outstanding, it tasted just like a chicken pie you could get from Garlo's pies or Pie Face. In terms of flavor it was quite bland, it definitely needed more seasoning to lift up the flavours. It was a very mediocre dish that could easily be made at home. I do however give props to the presentation and sizing of the dish.

Lamb Pappardelle
I really enjoyed the Lamb Pappardelle, the pasta was soft and melted in your mouth. The lamb was very tender and juicy, bursting with flavor and seasoning. The dish was also very large and there was a very generous amount, it was definitely worth for the amount we paid.
Picture Picture Picture Picture Picture The great thing about The Grounds of Alexandria is that it has a lot to offer other than just the food. After lunch I was heading to my friend's graduation so I bought her some flowers from the flower shop. Pictured above is the mix bag of flavours I got her. The florist was not that nice when I asked for her advice/ help, it took a long time for her to serve us and her attitude was very rude. But that wasn't going to ruin our day!
Picture Picture Overall, I really enjoyed the ambiance of The Grounds of Alexandria. I would recommend going on a weekday since there is less people and the wait time is significantly lower than on a weekend but if you work on weekdays try going early on a weekend so you don't have to fight the crowds :P I definitely will be back to try the other dishes on the menu and their other restaurant 'The Potting Shed'.

Happy eating x
