wtr 4.16.13 620x206 THE FLAMING LIPS, YEAH YEAH YEAHS, IRON AND WINE

This is a hefty release week, indeed! Below you’ll find sixteen, yes sixteen, new releases we’ve chosen to present as our top picks for the week. Diverse and super choice, no fan will be left behind here. There are rock and roll veterans (Willie Nelson, anyone?), debuts (Jessie Ware), punk all the way over to pop, major label crushers and unsigned savants. We’re particularly excited about the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs, as it’s been four years since we’ve had a full-length from them (I don’t even want to discuss the cover art, though…), The Flaming Lips, who always insist on bending our brains and tripping us out and Iron and Wine’s (*cough*my favorite band on the planet*cough*) new lighthearted, jazz-influenced tracks. Art Brut’s ”Best Of” album is a fantastic collection of savory rock and roll that spans ten years and features a second disc full of demos, b-sides, covers and live tracks. Three heavy-hitting English songstresses, both of the mega pop and singer-songwriter flavors, are not to be overlooked — Jessie Ware, Charli XCX, and Alessi’s Ark.  There’s way more goodness to be discovered below than I’ve mentioned, but you get the idea. But, okay,  just in case: Sixteen! Plethora!
