20’s Wedding Dress
The 1920’s wedding dress was traditionally a sheath-style dress that was loose fitting and featured plenty of beautiful embellishment. The bride typically wore a cap-style head piece with a flowing veil, and the hair was traditionally done in a charming updo.

30’s Wedding Dress
By the 1930’s, more brides began wearing dresses with cinched waists, though the bodice and skirt still hung loosely. There was more beading and embellishment, and the 30’s dresses often featured long sleeves that were fitted to the arms.

40’s Wedding Dress
In the 1940’s wedding dress shapes were similar to the 30’s, but the bodices became more elaborate. They often featured pleated or manipulated material. On most 1940’s wedding dresses, the waists were cinched, and many dresses were made from lace.

50’s Wedding Dress
In the 1950’s, wedding dresses featured a specific type of fitted bodice, cinched waist and flowing skirt. Long or short sleeves or even sleeveless dresses were popular, and the skirts became shorter. Calf length skirts became all the rage.
