Romeis the capital and the largest city of Italy. Situated in the west-central part of the country on the Tiber River.
The city of Rome has a great treasure of museums and galleries. Museums and galleries are in fact jewels of Rome. Other museums and galleries of Rome include Musei Capitolini, Etruscan National Museum of Villa Giulia, The Palatine Museum, and National Museum of Castel Sant'Angelo.

The surroundings of Rome are extremely charming and beautiful. There are a thousand places around Rome, in any direction. There are 13 Roman "Castles" or poetic villages including Tivoli heading south, three lakes (in opposite directions), two rivers (Tiber and Aniene), the Etruscan towns north of Rome (Cerveteri, Tarquinia etc), the charming seaside localities (Ladispoli, Fregene etc.), the mountain villages and resorts (Monterotondo, Terminillo), the poetic countryside with its villages, and - just a little further - Cassino with its Abbey, Ostia Antica etc.

The best way to get around Rome (from a sight-seeing point of view) is on foot. A walk round Rome is obviously more tiring than riding the bus, but you'll see a lot more, and of course, there is an awful lot to see. You don't necessarily need a guide to Rome - so it's a good idea to invest in a good street map.

Rome is one of Italy’s most beautiful cities, full with wonderful, unique monuments and its charm.
