The Covenant of God Our Father

By Mba @mbartoloabela

At the time of the first ark, God the Father established His covenant with the Children of Israel and chose them to be first – a “kingdom of priests, a holy nation” (Ex 19:6) – insofar as they obeyed Him (Ex 19:5). The Father did this so Israel could serve as the city of His rest and delight, since they were the firstborn of all His children. Meanwhile, during the time of the second ark, the Most High ratified, broadened and perpetuated His original covenant into that of the new and everlasting covenant with the People of God (Paul VI, 1964). He similarly made them His “chosen race, a kingdom of priests, a holy nation, a people to be a personal possession” (1 P 2:9), insofar as they kept His commandments (Jn 15:10). For the second time, our Father wanted to find rest and delight amid His new firstborn who were selected due to their spiritual desires to live with Him and for Him, from among all the Jews and the Gentiles.

Now at the period of the third ark, the omnipotent Father is for the third time ratifying, broadening further and perpetuating His everlasting covenant with all those who truly desire to live in Him as their one, true Father. He is gathering “every nation and every language” (Is 66:18), to revitalize His chosen people taken from the first and second arks – the “descendants from Jacob . . . [and] heirs to My mountains from Judah” (Is 65:9). He is also starting to give them the sign (Is 66:19) which is the new name (Is 65:15; Rv 2:17) of “God-within-them” (Rv 21:3) through His Fatherly seal (Rv 3:10-12).

God the first Person of the Holy Trinity is thus revitalizing the people into those “redeemed to be the first-fruits for God and for the Lamb . . . [because] no lie was found in their mouths and no fault can be found in them” (Rv 14:4-5). The Father will turn some of these into priests and Levites (Is 66:21) and make them lead His re-Christianized children to become “the Holy People . . . ‘Sought-after,’ ‘City-not-forsaken’” (Is 62:12), which will be His “holy city, the New Jerusalem coming down out of Heaven” (Rv 21:2). It is in this that our Heavenly Father will finally find delight, glory and rest by living in, among and through His children (Rv 21:3) “until the thousand years had passed” (Rv 20:3), as His kingdom reigns on earth in fulfillment of our centuries-old request through the Lord’s Prayer (Mt 6:10). Consequently, we shall henceforth experience an ever-increasing foretaste of the fullness of our inheritance (Paul VI, 1964), until we start living in, with, for and through the Trinity during the Father’s reign on earth in the era of peace granted to us by the Holy Spirit.
