The Costumes of Halloweens Past

vampire costume

( My vampire costume, pre-Twilight. Still one of my favorites- esp. the make-up, wish you could see the fangs. )

I love dressing up in costume. Not in a weird, cosplay way… just when it comes to Halloween. Each year I pretty much go all out, I may even say it’s one of my favorite holidays? I am not one of those people who spends $80-$100 bucks on a sexy costume online, I actually think that making my own costume is much more enjoyable. Plus, I hate the thought of having the same, predictable, costume as someone else.

Anyways, I figured I would share some of my past costumes that I think are somewhat fun & different from the norm. Even if you do decide to be something “typical”, such as a ghost or a pumpkin, just be sure to put your own creative spin on it.

Soo…. have you decided on your costume? If so- please share. Mine is still a secret… for now.

barbie dumped ken costume

+ Barbie Dumped Ken costume. That blonde wig was SO uncomfortable and I ended up turning into Kelly Dumped Ken by the end of the night. It was fun being a blonde while it lasted… and I can honestly tell you that brunettes have more fun.

blind mouse costume

+ This particular night of a past “Halloween Weekend” (because you know Halloween doesn’t just last one night) I actually had no outfit planned and quickly threw together this Blind Mouse costume. Too bad I didn’t have two other mice, it probably would have made more sense.

sunflower costume

+ The costume that took all costumes, and a weeks worth of time. Two years ago, my best friend and I decided to be a sunflower and a rose. We worked hard day and night, night and day on our costumes… and I thought the result was pretty cute

:)
. Man seen above: my sister roses boyfriend…as for his costume, it’s still unknown?

risky business costume

+ I guess she & I like to dress in matching costumes (we did the rose & the sunflower together as well). This was another costume from 2 years ago where we both dressed up as Tom Cruise from Risky Business. I loved this costume because it was soooo simple to throw together… and I you know I love simple.

medusa costume

+ Last years Medusa costume is probably my #1 best. This is the first costume I ever sewed myself, and that is probably why I love it so much. This picture doesn’t do my look much justice, and it is definitely borderline inappropriate, but we were really having too much fun for pictures. Plus, I am kind of pleased there is no more incriminating evidence of this crazy night.
