The Book Project Takes on Israel

Posted on the 20 December 2011 by Andrewgavinmarshall @A_G_Marshall

This particular chapter, which undertakes an examination of the actual efforts to manage the “Grand Area” in the first decades following World War II, examines not only the American Empire in Latin America, but in North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East. At the moment, I am writing about the founding of Israel and the “ethnic cleansing” of the Arab Palestinian population in 1948, which dispels the myths regarding the 1948 war and the origins of the Palestinian refugee problem. David Ben-Gurion, a leading Zionist at the time who then became Israel’s first Prime Minister, was quoted in 1938 as saying, “The Arabs will have to go, but one needs an opportune moment for making it happen, such as a war.” I will be sure to release another sample from this chapter this week, if not two, as this will also help increase awareness of the book and hopefully help encourage more donations as people are able to see what type of work they are supporting. A great deal of research within this chapter has been done, and is quite detailed in scope. A number of my sources and the information within them cannot be found even in the academic literature, but rather, I had to consult the original declassified documents from the State Department and National Security Council (NSC) in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, so it has been very time-consuming research and rather challenging, though, I think it has yielded some great results, finding information and quotes which can be found no where else. This is important to reveal the inner workings of the American Empire, to see it “in their own words,” how policy is constructed and subsequently implemented.

So, look for another sneak peak (or two) this week, and please continue to support the Book Project. Thanks very much for all your time and support!

Cheers

Andrew
